What is a chemical peel?

A chemical peel is a solution applied to the skin that loosens and removes the damaged outer layers. As the old skin peels away, newer, smoother skin replaces it. Medical-grade peels such as VI Peel are stronger than at-home products and are applied by a trained provider.

What does a chemical peel treat?

Dark spots and sun damage

Melasma and uneven tone (with careful selection)

Acne and post-acne marks

Rough texture and dullness

Fine lines

Dr. Eileen Rivera Jimenez, DNP, FNP, chooses the peel strength for your skin type and concern. People with darker skin tones can often have peels, but the choice of peel and aftercare matters more to avoid dark marks.

VI Peel recovery: day by day

Days 1 to 2: Skin looks normal or slightly tight or tan.

Days 3 to 5: Peeling starts, usually around the mouth and nose, then spreads.

Days 5 to 7: Peeling finishes for most people, revealing fresher skin.

Everyone peels differently. How much you peel does not show how well it worked. Do not pick or pull at peeling skin, use sunscreen daily, and follow the take-home instructions that come with your peel.

How much does a chemical peel cost?

Chemical peel pricing is the same at both offices and depends on the peel selected. Payment plans are available through Cherry, CareCredit and Klarna; contact the office about the Klarna option. Promotions appear in the Rejuvenation Bar app.

How long does VI Peel take to heal?

Peeling usually starts around day 3 and is finished within about a week.

Can I get a peel before an event?

Book at least 1 to 2 weeks before so peeling is complete.

Is a chemical peel safe for darker skin?

Often, yes, with the right peel and aftercare. Tell Dr. Eileen if you have had dark marks after skin treatments before.

Will I need more than one peel?

Some concerns improve after one peel; others need a series. Dr. Eileen will recommend a plan.

Can I combine a peel with microneedling?

Yes, but on separate visits, spaced as Dr. Eileen advises.

Also worth exploring.
