Hormone care

Hormone pellet therapy for women and men in Miami and North Providence

Hormone pellet therapy places tiny hormone pellets under the skin, where they release hormone steadily for several months. The Rejuvenation Bar offers pellet therapy for women and men at our Miami (Kendall) and North Providence, RI offices. Dr. Eileen Rivera Jimenez, DNP, FNP, sets your dose from your labs and symptoms, and places the pellets in a short in-office visit.

What is hormone pellet therapy?

Pellets are small cylinders of hormone, about the size of a grain of rice, placed just under the skin. They dissolve slowly and release hormone into your bloodstream over months. Women may receive estradiol, testosterone or both. Men receive testosterone. Our practice uses the Biote pellet program, but your dose is set by Dr. Eileen from your labs, not by a standard protocol.

Who is a good candidate for pellets?

Pellets can suit people who already need hormone therapy and prefer not to use a daily cream or regular injections. They may not suit you if you want the ability to change your dose quickly, since a pellet cannot be adjusted once it is placed. Men who may want children should read about enclomiphene first, because testosterone pellets lower sperm production.

What happens during a pellet placement?

Most people return to normal daily activity the same day. You will be asked to avoid soaking in water and hard lower-body exercise for a few days so the site can heal.

What are the risks of hormone pellets?

At the insertion site, possible problems include bruising, infection and a pellet working its way out. Because the dose cannot be removed easily, hormone levels can run higher than intended; regular labs help catch this. Hormone-specific risks are the same as for other forms of hormone therapy, which Dr. Eileen reviews with you before placement.

How much does pellet therapy cost?

Pellet therapy is the one hormone service priced differently at our two offices. Call Miami or North Providence for current pricing. Labs can be billed to insurance or paid in cash, and payment plans are available through Cherry, CareCredit and Klarna; contact the office about the Klarna option.

Your questions, answered.

How long do hormone pellets last?

Typically about 3 to 4 months for women and 4 to 6 months for men. Your labs and symptoms decide your actual schedule.

Does pellet insertion hurt?

The area is numbed first. Most people feel pressure rather than pain, and some soreness afterward.

Can pellets be removed if my dose is too high?

Removal is difficult, which is why dosing is based on labs and why follow-up matters.

Do I need labs before every placement?

Labs are part of pellet therapy. Dr. Eileen decides which tests are needed before each placement.

Why does pellet pricing differ between offices?

Pellet pricing is set separately for each office. Call the office you plan to visit.

What should I avoid after placement?

Follow your written aftercare. It usually includes avoiding baths, pools, hot tubs and hard lower-body exercise for a few days.
