Meeting Eileen: preparing for a treatment conversation

Eileen Rivera Jimenez is the nurse practitioner featured on The Rejuvenation Bar website. Before meeting her, think about what you want help understanding and what a useful first conversation would answer for you.

Begin with your concern in your own words

You can start with a sentence such as “I would like to understand this change” or “I am comparing these options and am not sure what fits.” A treatment menu can help you discover possibilities, but it does not require you to diagnose yourself or choose a procedure before the appointment.

Write down your main question and the details that explain it. For a change in how you feel, that may mean when it began and how it affects your day. For an aesthetic goal, it may mean the specific feature you notice and the expression or proportions you want to preserve.

Make your preferences part of the discussion

Tell Eileen what matters to your decision. You may want a subtle change, have limited time for follow-up, prefer to understand alternatives first, or have a budget you need to respect. These are useful parts of the conversation, not details you have to hold until the end.

If a reference image helps explain a preference, describe what you see in it. It can open a discussion, but it cannot establish what a treatment would achieve for you. Ask which parts of your goal are realistic and what limitations the clinician sees.

Ask for the explanation behind a recommendation

When an option is proposed, ask what it is intended to address, what alternatives exist and why it may fit your situation. Ask about the important risks, likely uncertainties and what would make the clinician recommend waiting or choosing a different approach.

You can also ask Eileen to explain unfamiliar words. Repeating the plan in your own words is a practical way to check that you understand it. A useful explanation should leave you able to describe the next step without relying on a product slogan.

Turn the conversation into a clear next step

The outcome may be an option to consider, a request for records, further evaluation or a follow-up visit. Ask what remains undecided and who will contact whom. If you need time to think, ask how to return with questions and how long an estimate or proposed plan remains applicable.

Confirm the location where any follow-up would happen. Eileen is associated with the practice’s Miami and North Providence presence, but an individual appointment and provider schedule should always be confirmed with the relevant office.
